Charles W. Ehrler, CPA
Director – Tax & Accounting

Charles W. Ehrler, who attended Arizona State University on a Medallion of Merit scholarship, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1979. He was certified by the state of Arizona in 1982. Chuck has taught college level business courses at a local community college. Chuck and his wife Gail, who works alongside him, have three daughters and one granddaughter. They have hosted numerous foreign exchange students they call the extended family.

Joseph G. Kennedy, CPA
Director - Tax & Accounting

Joseph G. Kennedy is a 1978 graduate of the University of Missouri, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He scored in the top 5% in the intensive national examination to become a C.P.A., and was certified in 1981. His professional abilities led to an appointment to the Board of Directors of First Phoenix General Hospital, and then as Foundation Board Member with John C. Lincoln. Married, and the father of three children, Joe enjoys all sports. His wife JoLee has a Bachelor’s degree in both dietetics and nursing. She is currently working on her second novel, traveling for research. They enjoy caring for their grandchildren and chickens, and some occasional fishing.

Kory Drent, MBA
Director - Tax

With more than 15 years of experience in tax, accounting, and business advisory services, Kory Drent strives to work with his clients to improve their financial and business success. As a graduate of Arizona State University, he continued his education by obtaining his MBA in 2014. In addition to Kory’s invaluable tax and accounting management experience, he brings a strong background in computer technology and leads the company’s I.T. department with its goals of technical efficiency and productivity.

Outside of work, Kory commits his time to his family and continuing his professional education.

Kenneth Whitlock, CPA
Senior Technical Manager

Kenneth Whitlock has been with the firm since 2005 and has over twenty-four years experience with public accounting. He graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University in 1987, with a degree in accounting. His area of focus is tax planning and other income tax related issues. Kenneth is available to assist our clients with tax strategies, preparation, and representation. Kenneth is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is also an active member in the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a volunteer with the Civitan Foundation.

Outside the office, Ken enjoys sports, RV trips, and other travel.

Carol Minerd, EA
Senior Accountant

Carol Minerd has been working in the tax field since 1979 and excels in the preparation of all types of income tax returns. She graduated summa cum lade form George Mason University in 1993, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. She went on to earn her Enrolled Agent certification in 1996. Carol has been with the firm since 1997. She has expanded her knowledge to include accounting and financial statement services.

Carol has been married since 1979, has three children, and four grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and travelling.

Gail Ehrler
Operations Manager

Gail Ehrler has been with the firm since 1981. From that time on she has been a vital part of the team and now acts as Operations Manager. Her previous professional work experience includes creative director, travel manager and HR. She credits her strong work ethic from her parents, Dee and Rick Ray. When she isn’t working beside her husband she is playing with their children and grandchildren. Otherwise, you will find her in the garden or chicken coop.

Lu Fierro
Accounts Receivable Clerk

Lu Fierro, billings clerk, has over 20 years of accounting experience, which includes billing for both legal and CPA firms. Lu has worked for the firm for 10 years and is a vital part of the Heritage team.

In her spare time, she runs after her 3 year old grandson who has stolen her heart.

Margie Forman
Accounting Manager

Margie Forman has been with the firm since 1992. Born in Nebraska, she was the youngest of 13 children in her family. Gymnastics was her life for nearly 18 years and the gym was where she met her husband Mark. Mark and Margie have been married since 1989 and have two boys, Talon and Titan. As a family, they love to camp, snow ski and go on vacations. Margie is a staff accountant that enjoys working with her clients on their bookkeeping needs. Her duties include bookkeeping, accounting and tax returns, and also helping out with billings.

Donna Travaglio
Tax Manager

Donna is our longest tenured employee, having started with the firm in 1987. As one of our Tax Managers, she specializes in all forms of tax preparation as well as client bookkeeping and financial statements.

She and her son, Tyler, enjoy watching Coyotes hockey games either at home or at the arena. Tyler is a member of the drumline in his high school marching band where Donna enjoys volunteering many hours as a chaperone and is also a board member of the band parent organization. You can also find her at the bowling alley on the weekends where she bowls on a league with friends.

Bobbie-Jo Kovar
Staff Accountant

Originally from Guam, Bobbie and her husband moved to Arizona in the late 90’s, and worked for a mid-sized law firm as a bookkeeper for 8 years. Bobbie expanded her accounting and management experience in a construction company and then a CPA firm before joining Kennedy/Ehrler in 2012. During this time she developed a superior knowledge of Quickbooks and a strong ability to create efficiencies in bookkeeping for clients. Bobbie brings to the firm over 19 years of accounting experience and more than 7 years of tax return preparation.

Malissa Whipple
Legal Assistant

Malissa Whipple has been with the firm since 1993. As a graduate of Trend Business College in Eugene, Oregon, Malissa brings a strong Administrative background specializing in executive and legal areas. She has also continued her education with courses in bookkeeping, accounting, and tax return preparation, all of which make her an extremely versatile employee.

Malissa is married to Jon and has a daughter, Lily, a member of the Cambridge Honors program in her high school, and who is a varsity and competition cheerleader. Between her job and her family commitments, Malissa keeps very busy.

Chad Minerd
Senior Accountant

Originally from Manassas, Virginia, Chad attended Arizona State University and graduated in 2008 with a degree in Global Business Management & Leadership, with a concentration in Finance. While still working on his degree, he began his professional career which focused on tax preparation and planning, and more recently has shifted his focus to information technology for small business environments. At Heritage Advisors, Chad combines his higher education in finance with his real world experience in tax and accounting for the benefit of his clients.

Patty Tucker
Client Relations

Patty Tucker joined the firm in 2009, bringing with her extensive experience in client relations. Prior to moving from Oregon to Arizona, Patty owned and operated her own business for 20 years. She knows the importance of treating clients with a friendly and caring attitude. All of which makes Patty an invaluable part of our team . Patty enjoys spending her spare time with her family, and traveling back to Oregon to visit friends.

Joan Compas
Clerical Assistant

Joan’s previous professional work experience includes working as a legal investment and engineering administrative assistant. While living overseas in Seoul, South Korea, she supervised the PBX operations of a 5-star military hotel and volunteered with the 1988 Olympic Accreditation Department. Living in Seoul enabled her to attend numerous Olympic events and travel extensively with her family in the East. She believes the job that has taught her the most patience is that of a school registrar. Her free time is spent doing yoga, speed walking with her husband, volunteering with St. Vincent dePaul Society and playing with her granddaughters.
